News: Swiss chocolatier Lindt is set to expand its Scottish retail presence with the opening of a new chocolate shop on Glasgow’s Buchanan Street next month.
The new store, located at 185 Buchanan Street, is scheduled to open on November 13, marking Lindt’s third retail location in Scotland. It will join the chocolatier’s existing stores in Livingston and Gretna, further strengthening its presence in the Scottish market.
Context:
Strong UK Market Presence: Lindt has an established presence in the UK chocolate market, particularly in the premium and dark chocolate segments, where it benefits from strong brand recognition and positioning.
Accelerating Global Retail Expansion: Lindt has been stepping up its international retail expansion in 2026, opening new stores across markets including Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand and the UK (Milton Keynes). This reflects a broader push by Swiss premium chocolatiers to expand their global retail footprints, with fellow Swiss chocolatier Läderach also opening multiple stores in markets such as India, Canada and the US.
Downgraded 2026 Growth Guidance: In October 2026, Lindt cut its full-year organic sales growth forecast to 0–2%, down from its previous estimate of 4–6%, following weaker-than-expected demand in key European markets, particularly Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The slowdown reflects growing consumer price sensitivity after substantial price increases driven by elevated cocoa costs, compounded by an unusually hot European summer that dampened seasonal chocolate sales. Despite the downgrade, Lindt maintained its EBIT margin improvement target of 20–40 basis points.
